Jo Draper

Date of birth: 26th June 1972.

Place of birth: Liverpool.

Occupation: senior Planning Officer/Fitness Instructor.

When did you start Taekwondo: 1981.

Why did you start Taekwondo:

To be blunt, I was being bullied. I was a very inward child totally lacking in self-confidence. By chance I saw Master Shin doing a martial art demonstration at a new club that was being opened in Liverpool. I was totally in awe, started the new classes the following week and have never looked back since.

Why do you still do Taekwondo:

I honestly cannot imagine life without Taekwondo, it has been an integral part of my life and I believe will continue to be for the rest of my days. I participate in Taekwondo as my love of it just keeps growing. I teach Taekwondo as I want others to experience the benefits that it can give. Last but certainly not least Taekwondo has introduced me to people during the past three decades that I consider to be friends.

What is the best thing about Tae kwon-Do:
Taekwondo instils self-belief – a belief that you can achieve anything that you put your mind too.

Have you done any other Martial Arts:

Not really, my life has always been too full with Taekwondo, although I have huge respect for practitioners of other martial arts.

Other activities:

Keeping reins on my two mad sons!...I also run and train with weights.

Has Taekwondo affected your everyday life:

Yes, I'm a confident and self-assured person as a direct result of Taekwondo.
