The Welsh W.T.F. Taekwondo Association was founded by Master Jo Draper in 2004, and is now run by herself and her husband, Master Alastair Eustace. Emphasis is placed not only physical training, but mental development and the acquisition of life skills as well. The Association has grown from strength to strength, and despite it's professional approach, still holds fun and enjoyment as the most important factors in Taekwondo participation.
"The benefits of Taekwondo are boundless, it not only instils discipline and raises confidence, it encourages people of all ages and different levels of physical ability to set their own target and achieve them. Indeed Taekwondo will empower you to achieve whatever you set your mind to". Master Jo Draper
About your Instructors:
Master Jo Draper is a 5th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, which she has been practising for over 25 years. She has a whole host of achievements under her belt, the most noticeable of which was representing the Great British National Taekwondo Team in competition for over 12 years. Following motherhood in 1998, 2002 and 2009, Jo has retired from competition and now focuses upon teaching, orientating a strong team of instructors who run a number of classes for children, juniors and seniors. With experience in boxing, kickboxing & ITF Taekwondo competition, Jo specialises in striking techniques and is well versed to teach all manner of striking that is involved within the Taekwondo syllabus.
Master Alastair Eustace is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, which he has been practising for 21 years. He was seeded No. 2 in the Great British National Team in 1999, and also competed for the Welsh National Team between 1998 and 2003, where he medalled regularly throughout Europe. He also represented the Chungdokwan Great British National Team in Korea and North America between 2004 and 2006. Following a severe foot injury in 2007, Alastair retired from competition and now coaches up alongside his wife, Jo, whilst currently training in grappling, groundfighting and submission wrestling. Basic elements and concepts of these other disciplines are taught under our practical self-defence syllabus and allow students to get introduced to other combative techniques outside of the striking range.
